Four wards full of medically fit people

The Chief Exec of Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust has criticised the County's other care services for not doing enough to get medically fit patients out of hospital

Dr Frank Harsent, who is Chief Executive of Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust has criticised the County's other care services for not doing enough to get "medically fit" patients out of hospital.

Last month, 91热爆 Radio Gloucestershire revealed the scale of the problem with patients who are "medically fit" but are still in need of additional care, either at home or in a nursing home.

They're being kept in hospital weeks after being discharged, because there is nowhere else for them to go.

A recent Hospital Trust board meeting revealed that each of these patients is costing the NHS around 拢200 per DAY!
