Radzi Chinyanganya: Challenge Hero

Radzi Chinyanganya attempts to climb the world’s longest artificial climbing wall.

To inspire C91Èȱ¬ viewers to Be A Hero for Children in Need, Blue Peter Presenter Radzi Chinyanganya will attempt to climb the world’s longest artificial climbing wall - a huge dam in Switzerland.

Radzi said about his challenge:

‘I have a huge passion for sport, I absolutely love it. As a result I jump at the opportunity to do any physical challenge, nothing beats that feeling of knowing that you're pushing yourself to the maximum.
Climbing however, was a brand new sport for me, it’s incredibly demanding but equally as rewarding. It works every muscle in the body, but as well as that what surprised me was just how mentally challenging it is.

Climbing the Lago di Luzzone climbing wall was the hardest thing I have ever done. The overwhelming cocktail of fear and exhilaration was with me from the start, and just became more potent with every metre that I climbed. Never have I felt more alone, more self-reliant and more alive than when I was on that climbing wall.

I couldn't have done it without the incredible support team out there, and it was an experience I shall treasure for the rest of my life.It was awesome, in every sense.

To see Radzi undertake his challenge watch Blue Peter on C91Èȱ¬, 5.30pm Thursday 13 November, or at 6.30pm Friday 14 November
