Louise and Katy: Freedom to Work and Play.
How a subsidised scooter has replaced the taxi of mum and dad. Louise is a 17 year old who lives in a remote area of rural West Cumbria. She has recently joined the Children in Need funded Wheels 2 Work programme. The loan of the scooter, plus training, insurance, safety equipment and ongoing support from a project adviser means that she can now travel independently to work. But the whole family has benefited from Louise getting her own set of wheels, as they don't have to be constantly at her beck and call.
