The Oil Price Slide

Oil Price: a 30% price slide in 3 months. We look at the winners and losers, and how long cheap oil may last. Also, a new scheme to cash in on future footballing talent.

We explore the collapsing price of crude oil - a thirty per cent slide on global markets in just three months. With another slump this week, we ask if this could soon become a crisis for some oil-producing nations - from Nigeria to Venezuela to Russia. We also ask why it's happening and what the wider effect will be. Two oil experts, Nick Butler, a former oil executive and now a visiting professor at Kings College London, and Richard Mallinson, an analyst at the consultancy Energy Aspects, consider whether cheap oil could ultimately boost the global economy. Also in the programme, we hear from the former Portuguese international, Hugo Ribeiro, about Football Talent Fund, a collaboration between former England Manager, Terry Venables, and a number of other former players, that's aiming to cash in on the potential of future footballing talent in Africa and Latin America.
