Fun and Friendship

Friendship is too important in young people’s lives to be regarded as an optional extra. It lies at the very heart of developing confidence and independence. The absence of friendships can lead to very negative effects deriving from loneliness or isolation. This is no less true for disabled young people than it is for everyone else – but society too often places barriers in their way.

Fun and Friendship is a £3 million grant programme from 91Èȱ¬ Children in Need, which was additional to our other grant programmes.

Ade Adepitan went to WAC Arts in London, a project which is part of the Fun and Friendship programme, to find out more.
