Farming on different sides of the referendum fence

5 live's Lesley Ashmall has been to rural Perthshire to hear from two farmers on different sides of the referendum fence.

Agriculture is one of Scotland's biggest industries and one of the most important issues for farmers is membership of Europe because of their reliance on the Single Farm Payment.

Beef and sheep farmer Major David Walter says he supports Better Together: "Europe is our biggest market and we need to be cheek by jowl with them"

Cattle farmer Jim Fairlie disagrees and wants independence: "If Scotland chooses to be part of the European Union there is absolutely no doubt Scotland will do better in terms of what the payment would be back to the agricultural community".
