100m ‘Drug cheat’ is fastest this year
Mike Costello talks to Darren Fletcher just after Justin Gatlin runs the fastest 100 metre time this year in just 9.77 seconds.
Costello says that the ‘vast majority of people’ he speaks to agree that every win Gatlin records is like ‘a stab in the heart for the sport.’
He says the sport needs Bolt to return to prevent Gatlin from becoming 100m Olympic champion in 2 years time.
Justin Gatlin previously held the world record for 100m before being banned for substance abuse. He has been banned twice for drug use in the past but returned to sprinting in 2010.
