Quantitative Easing: Why Germany Doesn't Like It

Why German European Central Bank board members equate quantitative easing with central bankers creating wealth out of thin air. Plus, can you copyright graffiti?

The eurozone economy is in trouble - deflation appears to be taking hold. Will the European Central Bank (ECB) follow in the footsteps of Japan and the US, and introduce a policy of quantitative easing? In other words buying lots of debt on financial markets in order to breathe new life into the economy. Jan Randolph, director of sovereign risk at IHS Global Insight in London, explains why German ECB board members are against the idea, equating it with central bankers "acting like fairy godmothers, creating value out of thin air."

Also in the programme: How do you go about protecting the copyright of street art? Business Daily visits the studios of London graffiti artist Stik. And Enrico Bonadio, an expert in intellectual copyright at City University London, explains why free art is not up for grabs.
