Pint-sized World Cup: Day Fourteen
On day fourteen at the World Cup there was another masterclass from Lionel Messi. The Argentine scored twice to see his nation finish top of group F. They will play Group E runners-up, Switzerland on Sunday, who saw off Honduras thanks to a Shaqiri hat-trick - the fiftieth in World Cup finals history.
It was France who finished top of Group E, they will face the only African team currently in the last 16 - Nigeria.
It was France’s game with Ecuador that provided us with some entertainment on 5 Live. Commentator, Darren Fletcher described Christian Noboa’s bandage to a bag of onions and Brad Friedel completely believe it when Ecuadorian goalkeeper, Alexander DomÃnguez got cramp. The Spurs goalkeeper said he’s ‘never, ever seen a goalkeeper get cramp in a game’.
But the only person everybody wanted to talk about today was Luis Suarez. Alan Shearer called for him to a ‘world wide ban’ on 5 Live, but Brazilian reporter Julio Gomez Filho believes he should only get a one match ban.
