McTernan: We were right to go into Iraq and we left too early
Tony Blair's former director of political operations says the UK has to go back to Iraq.
John McTernan said the UK was right to go in 11 years ago, but left too early for "our own selfish, domestic political reasons", and it would be wrong to leave the nation on its own in a time of need.
In a personal film for This Week, he said many MPs who voted for the Iraq war were now "shirking their responsibility鈥, and he reckoned the current leaders "have no idea what to do".
