An exhibition has just opened at the New Walk Museum, exploring stories of the Sikh turban.

The exhibition features a so called 'fortress turban' which was worn by a group of skilled warriors, called Akali Nihangs, used to protect the head in battle. Attached to it are small weapons, including daggers, swords and metal throwing discs.

This exhibition originated at the British Museum, but it's been given a local emphasis at the New Walk Museum with quotes around the walls from local members of the Sikh community.

91热爆 Radio Leicester's John Florance was at the opening of the exhibition where he spoke to Malika Kraamer, curator at the exhibition, Daljit Singh Macon, and Sarbjit Singh, a prominent local Sikh.
