Summary: Denis McGeady talks Frainc through the infamous case of his great grandfather, William Coll, which features in the ‘Glass Album’ exhibition at Bunbeg Gallery. Coll was convicted with others of the murder in 1889 of District-Inspector Martin. He was sentenced to 10 years’ imprisonment, though he only served 3. Denis also speaks movingly of the extreme poverty depicted in the images exhibited. The convicted men’s guilt was very much in doubt, and you can find out more about that by following the relevant ‘Related Links’ on this episode’s programme page.
