Sri Lanka: Investors Beware?

Sri Lanka: Are human rights concerns, heavy taxes and bureaucracy blocking the return of Western investors?

Sri Lanka is wooing Western investors, hoping to lure them back now that the decades-long civil war is well and truly over. Presenter Jamie Robertson speaks to the central bank governor, Ajith Nivard Cabraal, who is in London as part of the marketing effort, and asks whether foreigners are right to be wary of the country's heavy taxes and regulations, and its human rights record.

We hear from businessman Hardy Jamaldeen, about the difficulties that his company, Steradian Capital, encounters when it tries to help outsiders interested in financing the country's post-war reconstruction, and the opportunities available to those investors willing to bite the bullet.

Also in the programme, Stephen Dubner - who along with co-author Steven Levitt has penned the Freakonomics series of books - explains what it takes to "Think Like a Freak".
