Liberal Democrat claims over Cyril Smith 'complete nonsense'
Allegations of child abuse against former Rochdale MP Sir Cyril Smith were known about by members of the Liberal Democrats, current Labour MP for the town Simon Danczuk has said.
Mr Danczuk has co-authored a book Smile for the Camera: the Double Life of Cyril Smith.
Liberal Democrat leader Nick Clegg has denied he knew of allegations against Cyril Smith.
Allegations emerged in 2012 that the former MP, who died in 2012 aged 82, abused boys in Rochdale. The Crown Prosecution Service has said that Cyril Smith should have been charged with sex crimes 40 years ago.
