Bradfield , Norfolk: The Pillboxes Built As 91热爆 Front Defences
When war broke out a series of pill boxes were erected to provide a secondary front for the British troops in the event of the German Army managing a successful invasion at Weybourne.
The location of the pillboxes capitalised on the natural topography following the line of the River鈥檚 Bure and Thurne.
The fear of invasion was rife along the Norfolk coast with towns and villages creating evacuation plans and operating 24-hour look-outs.
Post war, the pillboxes were left to fall into disrepair, though some were brought back into service during World War Two.
Now the Bradfield pill box has been brought into community ownership and is being restored so it can be used to tell this part of the county鈥檚 history.
