Match Abandoned
There's nothing worse than turning out to watch your local football team, or heading out to the sidelines to watch your children or grandchildren play, only to find the game has been called off by rain.
But did it really need to be?
More than three-quarters of grassroots football teams in the East Midlands say that having better facilities would have resulted in them not having to cancel rain-affected games earlier this year.
A study by the Sport and Recreation Alliance has found that every one of the Football teams it questioned in our region had to call off games with some postponing as many as 55 fixtures!
Lots of those also say that better drainage around fields and or modern artificial turfs like 3G or 4G football pitches would have prevented the cancellations.
The Chair of the Sport and Recreation Alliance, who's also the Chair of Leicester-shire and Rutland Sport is Andy Reed.
