Fracking: The big debate

A debate looking at the issues of Fracking - or drilling for shale Gas. The debate was hosted at Haydock Park Racecourse and was hosted by 91热爆 North West Tonight's Annabel Tiffin, and broadcast on 91热爆 Radio Lancashire, 91热爆 Radio Manchester and 91热爆 Radio Merseyside.

On the panel were:

Francis Egan the Chief Executive of Cuadrilla Resources - the energy company that's been exploring for shale gas in Lancashire since 2010.

John Blaymires is the Chief Operating Officer at IGas - the company currently exploring for shale gas and coal bed methane at Barton Moss in
Salford. The firm also has licences to explore in Cheshire and Merseyside.

Tom Crotty a director at the international chemical company INEOS. The firm employs around 1400 people at its plant in Runcorn and 15,000 across the world.

Barbara Keeley is the Labour MP for Worsley and Eccles South. She's been an MP in the area since 2005 and she's also a member of the Commons Health Committee. IGas's exploratory drilling site at Barton Moss in Salford is in her constituency.

Mike Hill is a chartered electrical engineer with experience in the oil and gas industry. He's recently carried out a three year study into regulation of the shale gas industry.

Helen Rimmer is the North West campaigner for the environmental group, Friends of the Earth. She also works with various anti-fracking campaign groups across the region.
