Foodbanks Hand Out "Kettle Boxes" To People With No Cooking Facilities

Food banks have started to issue "kettle boxes" to people who cannot afford to cook food in an oven or those who are living in accommodation without ovens.

Food banks have started to issue specially prepared "kettle boxes" to people who cannot afford to cook food in an oven or those who are living in accommodation without cooking facilities.

The boxes contain products that can be prepared by adding boiling water, such as instant soup, noodles, instant mash and porridge.

Reporter Elinor Cross meets Julian Fairley, who was put up at the Travelodge off the A14 Westbound by Kettering Borough Council and who relies on the 鈥渒ettle boxes鈥. Reporter Tom Percival talks Dave Goddard, one of the project leaders for the Food bank at St Jude's in Kettering, while Stuart talks to Adrian Curtis, Food bank Network Director at the Trussell Trust.
