Ripper Street's Matthew Macfadyen, says "efforts are being made to breathe life back into it" after the Victorian crime drama was axed by the 91热爆 after its second series.

The actor, who played Inspector Reid says the 91热爆 told him "ratings were going down".

The serial was trounced in the ratings by ITV's I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here and has been axed "to make room for creative renewal", the 91热爆 said.
