The St Cecilia Singers
The Saint Cecilia Singers of North Lincolnshire were formed about 20 years ago by Charles Edmondson, music adviser for South Humberside.ÌýÌý The original upper voice choir consisted mainly of teachers and music students and gave concerts in churches throughout the region.ÌýÌý The present conductor, Barbara Tune, has been a member for many years, almost from its inception, and has been the choir’s director since 2002.ÌýÌý She retired two years ago from her role as head of music at Frederick Gough School in Scunthorpe after 30 years in education.
Ìý
All members of the choir are united in an absolute love of singing and really enjoy rehearsing and performing together, the proof of this being that there are still original members singing to this day.ÌýÌý Over the years, the choir has been able to raise thousands of pounds for various local charities and churches.
Ìý
The next concert is on Saturday 29 March, 2014 at 7.30pm in Ashby Methodist Church Hall, Scunthorpe.Ìý ÌýThey will be performing Bob Chilcott’s Jazz Songs of Innocence, accompanied by piano, drum kit and double bass.ÌýÌý TheÌýsecond half of the programme features songs from films including Skyfall, Goldfinger and Moon River.
