We investigate claims that benefit reforms have led to rocketing numbers of rough sleepers & the use of emergency accommodation

The news, sport, weather and travel you need in the morning.

A study for the charity Crisis and the Joseph Rowntree Foundation claims benefit reforms and a shortage in housing have led to rocketing numbers of rough sleepers and people turning to emergency accommodation. We’ll be speaking to an organisation which helps homeless people on Teesside which agrees the situation’s getting worse.
And we’ll hear from the County Durham reindeer breeder who’s settling-in new arrivals from the Arctic Circle – and finding out how they’ll adapt to life in the much warmer climate of Seaham.
