We often hear about our local Mps and what they're up to in the House of Commons, but it's much rarer that we hear about what our local Lords are up to. It's easy to forget what a vital part the Lords play in Britain's democratic process. And what we do know is often clouded by stereotype, so when shadow Foreign and Commonwealth minister Lord Willy Bach who's from Leicestershire asked if I鈥檇 like to come and see what they actually do, I jumped at the chance.

So I went to the Palace of Westminster and met up with someone who knows more than most about the workings of the Lords and how it's changed over time......
