A lover of literature says the lack of black books and characters inspired her to create her own.
Caroline Shelley, from the east Midlands, spent much of her career working with black students in London schools and noticed the gap.
So wrote a book to adress the balance.
Here she speaks to Dulcie Dixon about her book and what she hopes it will add to the cultural literature circle.
