Teachers at a special school in Kettering say its pupils rarely go on to get a job - and that more opportunities should be available to them.

Wren Spinney Community Special School in the town is opening a hair salon.

Called ‘The Studio’, it will employ professional hairdressers but young people with learning difficulties will be work there too, broadening their skills. The school already runs a sweet shop on Kettering's High Street.

Reporter Martin Borley visits ‘The Studio’ and talks pupils and to Amy Morton from the school. Stuart talks to Dr Ursula McCann, a clinical psychologist with Northamptonshire Healthcare Foundation Trust, to Julia Green from Northamptonshire County Council’s employment and disability service, to Jacki Connor, Director of HR, Retail and Logistics for Sainsbury’s.

Stuart also talks to Garry Summers, the MD of “Inspiring Empires" which provides employment for jobseekers with physical and mental disabilities in Northamptonshire, who contacted the show.
