Leicester's Gujarat Hindu Association has launched an appeal for the victims of the floods in the Indian state of Uttarakhand.

There are no official figures yet on how many people may have died or are missing as a result of the heaviest monsoon rains in the state in over 80 years.

Uttarakhand has a number of significant Hindu pilgrimage sites, and Haridwar in particular is popular with people from Leicester.
