June 1963
- Hampshire police were searching for a suspect after a triple murder in Portsmouth.
- The UK was learning about the affair between John Profumo and Christine Keeler.
- Cassius Clay and Henry Cooper faced each other in a boxing match at the London Palladium.
- A house that was being demolished in Westminster, close to the Strand collapsed burying a workman under several tons of rubble.
- 21 survivors were rescued by the Dover lifeboat after the Panamanian ship 'Carmen' sank after a collision in the English Channel.
- The Queen took the salute at the trooping of the Colour of the 2nd Battalion Grenadier Guards.
- The "Old Vic Company", "the home of Shakespeare" which had been in London since 1914, gave its last performance in the Waterloo Road.
- There was a requiem mass for Pope John XXIII at Westminster Cathedral.
- Sir Winston CHURCHILL arrived in Monte Carlo for a holiday on the French Riviera.
- Russian space ship Vostok 5 was orbiting the Earth, with cosmonaut Colonel Valery Bykovsky on board.
- A rain-lashed Belgian Grand Prix was won by Jim Clarke in a Lotus.
- Riots were taking place in Jackson, Mississippi, following the shooting of a black community leader.

- In the Milk Race, Russia won both individual & team titles in Southampton.
- It was moving day today for some of elderly residents of Wyndham Cottle 91热爆 of Rest for Horses at Ningwood on the Isle of Wight. They were moving to a new home near Milton Keynes.
- Dozens of Scandinavian students from Bournemouth celebrated midsummer by dancing around maypole at Hengistbury Head.
- Chief Constable of Hampshire Police Sir Douglas Osmond retired.
- Two million people visited Portsmouth for the Jubilee Fleet Review.
- Totton-based manufacturers of fire engines HCB Angus were planning a move to a 拢500,000 factory at Calmore.
- Ford workers in Swayling were in dispute .... 1250 production workers were laid off when day shift finished.
- Residents in Ryde were upset by the noise made by a local man's budgies.
- TUC Economic Committee met the Chancellor of the Exchequer to discuss pay policy.
- The Queen & Prince Phillip drove through the street of Liverpool in an open Range Rover, to celebrate their silver jubilee.
- Freddie Laker won his long fight to introduce cut price flights to America. Sky Train would operate from Stansted Airport.
- HM Queen reviewed 2,000 Legion Standard bearers at Windsor as part of her Silver Jubilee celebrations.
- The main celebrations ended with a flypast along The Mall.
- Tesco abandoned Green Shield trading stamps in favour of price reductions.

- A coaster was damaged in an explosion off Portland.
- Canisters containing potentially dangerous chemicals were washed up on the beach at Compton Bay on the Isle of Wight.
- Southampton's Tudor House launched a 拢200,000 appeal after wood worm was found in the historic beams.
- Refurbishment works were underway to the Milton Road end of The Dell, home of Southampton Football Club.
- Dockers in Southampton were in dispute with management over working practices.
- Workers at Pirelli Cables factories in Southampton were on a work to rule.
- There were fears that Portsmouth Naval Dockyard could close in the forthcoming defence review.
- The government announced that Haslar detention centre was to be the new home for young offenders, effectively securing it's future.
- A grandmother from Bournemouth was names as the country's top lollipop lady.
- Sparsholt College open day attracted over 8000 visitors.
- Shots were fired at the Trooping of the Colour ceremony as the Queen passed the corner of The Mall and the Horse Guards Parade.
