The artistry and the aesthetics of the Islamic world derive from the longstanding rejection of the depiction of human and animal forms in religious art. Instead, traditional Muslim artists choose from a pallette of calligraphy, arabesque and geometry to decorate the pages of the Qur'an and walls of the mosque.
