Blaengarw Regeneration
The colliery closed in Blaengarw, following the end of the Miners’ strike in 1985. Townspeople remember discussing environmental issues in the town at the time. Decisions were made to reclaim industrial landscapes for community use ( with potential for the development of tourism), leading to the creation of the ‘Calon Lan Park’ just outside the town.
