The Onion Johnny
As a nation, we’ve always gone out of our way to find unusual flavours and travelled afar to find unique tastes. But there have been times when the exotic came looking for us.
Year after year the ‘Onion Johnnies’ would travel to Britain from France to sell their onions door to door. And for decades they provided the British not only with a taste of the continent but also the opportunity to interact with a different culture.
