David Davies and the Welsh coal industry
Eddie Butler describes the contribution of David Davies to the south Wales coal industry. Davies, a super rich industrialist in the 19th century sunk pits in Treorci and built Barry docks - supplying Welsh coal to the Royal Navy and across the empire. The clip also stories from the Cardiff Coal Exchange where the first million pound cheque was ever signed and looks at early multiculturalism in the city.
