Symbiosis of photosynthetic algae and jellyfish
Professor Brian Cox explores the symbiotic relationship between golden jellyfish and photosynthetic algae. These organisms are only found together in one lake in the Micronesian Republic of Palau. Here, the jellyfish have evolved a special relationship with the algae living within their tissues; the algae harness the Sun鈥檚 energy for photosynthesis and produce glucose for the jellyfish to use in turn.
