Carol Ann Lee from York has been a successful author since the early 1990s. She spent her career writing biographies of the most famous and notorious women of this century.

Her subjects have included Anne Frank, the Holocaust, the crimes of Moors Murderer Myra Hindley and more recently Ruth Ellis, the last woman in Britain to receive the death penalty.

She also happens to be very involved with her local WI in Wilberfoss, one of the new breed of women in their early 40s whose cooking skill may be limited to reheating meals from the freezer, but who have so much to give their local community in other ways.
