Did You Know?
Richard Long was born in 1945. Throughout his life, he has created art in the landscape of every continent except Antarctica. He achieves inspiration through walking, which he considers an art form and part of the creative process. Today, he is mindful of environmental issues and so dismantles his larger sculptures after photographing them. His work has been exhibited around the world, including at the Museum of Modern Art and the Guggenheim Museum in New York. In 1989, he was awarded the Turner Prize.
