The Hobbit Director Peter Jackson says he "knew instinctively that the film would be nowhere near as good without Martin". He tells Simon that he wanted Martin Freeman to play Bilbo Baggins so much that he shut down the New Zealand set halfway through filming to fit around Martin's schedule.
