Sheffield - redevelopment and employment

Steel production used to be a major source of employment in Sheffield, but now many of the steel works have closed. A few have modernised, but the industry no longer provides the same level of employment as it used to.

Sheffield has developed a conservation area and encouraged the development of brownfield sites. This has led to many employment opportunities and has preserved the green areas on the outskirts of the city.
