An explanation of why the weather changes in the winter months. Differences can be measured in the amount of rainfall, the temperature, and the wind speed and direction. Winter is the coldest time of year in the UK because the sun is very low in the sky and the days are shorter. This means the air and the ground have less time in which to get warm.
