Trade union strikes in the 1970s
During the 1970s, most workers were part of a union, battling for higher pay and better working conditions. Many people felt that trade unions stood up for the interests of ordinary workers and battled for a fairer, more equal society. Some governments however, felt they damaged the country's economy.
