The 1960s fashion revolution
Fashion became far-out and fun in the 1960s. The clip explores why young people wanted to break away from their conservatively dressed parents. Mary Quant led the revolution in female fashion with her new wave designs, miniskirts became shorter and shorter. Boys meanwhile abandoned the uniform and haircut of the old National Service days to join the mods and the rockers, two conflicting British youth groups of the 1960s.
