Hinduism in Varanasi
The city of Varanasi is one of India鈥檚 oldest and holiest cities. The city is important to Hindus because it is dedicated to the god Shiva. It is built on the banks of the River Ganges and pilgrims travel for miles to immerse themselves in the sacred river. They believe that bathing in the Ganges will help purify them and wash away their sins.
