Kent Councillor favours estuary airport

A senior Kent Councillor has broken ranks with the leadership, and come out in favour of an estuary airport.
KCC is officially lobbying the government to plan for a second runway at Gatwick instead, but Conservative Peter Lake, a deputy cabinet member, says that is madness, and complains that neither he nor the rest of Kent have been consulted.
It comes at the same time as a new pressure group is formed, supporting Manston as a key part of the solution to the problem of airport capacity in the South East (06:25, 07:07 and 08:08)
Virtual court technology which allows defendants, magistrates, lawyers and witnesses to interact without having to be in the same courtroom has been rolled out across the county.
Some solicitors are concerned though that their clients will not be properly represented. The Police claim it will speed up justice and save money (06:06, 07:22 and 08:22).
They are one of the biggest Brit-pop bands of the 90s, and tonight Blur are playing a special gig in Margate at the Winter Gardens, in order to warm up for their concert at Hyde Park - which coincides with the Olympic closing ceremony (08:48).
