Alcohol policy should tackle health issues

A campaigner, a doctor & a recovering alcoholic from Northants talk about the view of an MP's Committee that Government policy does not focus enough on the health issues associated with alcoholism.

A campaigner in Northamptonshire backs a group of MP's who say the health consequences of drinking too much alcohol are not given enough attention because the focus has been on tackling weekend binge drinking and its associated anti-social behaviour. The campaigner is Julia Butcher from Yelvertoft who tells Stuart about her sister who, she says, drank herself to death.

Stuart also talks to Doctor Simon Tickle, the GP lead for alcoholism in Northamptonshire, to Linda Juland from CAN the drug, alocohol and homelesness charity, to recovering alcoholic Martin from Northamptonshire, and to Fiona De Boltz, a Deacon in Kettering who co-ordinates the Street Pastor scheme in the town and deals with people who are drunk on the street after a night out.

91热爆 Radio Northampton's Sports Editor Geoff Doyle presents a special report on a shake-up at Northamptonshire County Cricket Club.
