On the weekend of the Queen鈥檚 Diamond Jubilee, Euan McIlwraith is given access to the Royal Highland Pony Stud. The Royal Family鈥檚 association with the Highland Pony began when King Albert and Queen Victoria purchased Balmoral back in 1852. Albert was a keen hunter and the ponies were an integral part of the working estate. Like her grandmother before her the queen takes a keen interest in her ponies. The stud was reorganised five years ago when all the Queens Highlands were brought home from Hampton Court to live at Balmoral.
