What got you through your last bout of depression?
Doctors often recommend exercise, but a new study suggests it doesn't really make much difference.
Research conducted by Exeter and Bristol universities suggests that patients who undertook regular exercise on top of their regular treatment for depression experienced no significant gains compared to those who did none.
Has exercise helped you? Did you try something energetic or did a simple walk around the block do the trick?
If exercise doesn't help you, what does? Did your doctor prescribe drugs? Were you lucky enough to get a talking therapy? When you're in the depths of depression does anything work for you?
John Campbell, Professor of General Practice and Primary Care at Peninsula College of Medicine and Dentistry talks Julia through the findings (09.15) and Harriet Heal, a clinical psychologist from Sevenoaks, who helped setup a running club for women with depression (09.30).
And we hear your stories and opinions.
