Crucial shopping centre meeting + Council leader's honour

Northampton Borough Council meet the owners of the town's Grosvenor shopping centre, Legel & General, as the row continues over its future - & there's an OBE for the Leader of Northants County Council

Ahead of a meeting between Northampton Borough Council and Legal & General, the owners of Northampton's Grosvenor shopping centre, the Breakfast Show considers the issues affecting the proposed redevelopment of the centre.

Stuart talks to Councillor Jim Harker, the Leader of Northamptonshire County Council, about the Grosvenor Shopping Centre and about Jim being made OBE in the Queen's Birthday Honours.

Roger Madison from the union Unite talks about the 24-hour strike of Ford workers over proposed changes to pensions, pay and conditions. Among those on strike are workers from Ford's parts distribution centre in Daventry.

Alex Hopkins, the County Council's Director of Customers and Learning, tells reporter Willy Gilder about primary schools at Boothville, Bridgewater, Castle, Delapre and East Hunsbury in Northampton that will each have to accept an extra 30 pupils in September.

Reporter Adrianne Hill looks back at yesterday's Moto GP at Silverstone, and Paula Holmes from the Desborough Community Development Trust tells Stuart about the battle to keep the town's old Hawthorns Leisure Centre open and the complaint they've submitted to the Local Government Ombusdman.
