With hiding places at a premium fish will go to incredible lengths to find protective cover, and none more so than the pearl fish. It is vulnerable out in the open so must conceal itself when it isn't feeding. A sea cucumber's body is basically a predator-repellent tube and, unfortunately for the sea cucumber, the pearl fish enters via the non-mouth end!
