Reef teamwork
The Great Barrier Reef is created by tiny animals called polyps. They are like upside down jellyfish that live in a stony cup. They respond to touch, temperature, currents and the cycle of the moon to have a rhythm of their own. But they don't do this alone; each polyp has millions of of tiny, microscopic plants integrated into its tentacles. This special relationship means that, as a team, they create the incredible reef ecosystem.
