The young Professor Oliver Lodge was one of the foremost speakers in physics of his day. But on an August day in 1894 he gave a talk that was to change the world. It was something he hadn't predicted. His subject - the work of the mathematician James Clerk Maxwell and the physicist Heinrich Hertz - was academically exciting, but not dramatic to a lay audience. But this talk would sadly make other people very famous, and not Oliver Lodge...
