New York author Sapphire has brought her new book to this year's festival. It follows on from her hard-hitting first novel 'Push' which was made into the Oscar-winning film 'Precious'. Fourteen years on, 'The Kid' continues with the extremely dark, violent story of orphan Abdul. In this clip, Sapphire speaks at length with Kirsty Wark about the novel's abused, and abusive, central character.
