A scene from 1941 in which Kay (Anna Maxwell Martin) rescues Helen (Claire Foy) from the basement of a bombed guest house. The scene is followed by a kaleidoscope of images as we fast forward in time through the events of 1941 and further into 1944, finally coming to a halt in 1947.
