An exhausted Masood is pushed to the limit with disastrous consequences. Whitney's advice lands Tiffany in trouble. And Phil swallows his pride to ensure the safety of his family.
We see Phil鈥檚 badly bruised face and Ronnie again implores him to speak to Grant, as Isaacs and his crew won鈥檛 stop until they get the money back. This is a suggestion he is quick to dismiss. Ben tells him if he won鈥檛 speak to Grant, then he has to go to Ian for help.
Isaacs phones Phil and threatens to hurt his family if he doesn鈥檛 come up with the money fast.
Archie goes to the Vic and pressures Roxy and Ronnie to tell him what happened to Phil. He feigns concern, offering his financial assistance, fearing they too will get hurt. Roxy and Ronnie tell him he is not welcome.
Phil hears from Peggy that Grant鈥檚 bank will not remortgage him so he cannot give them any money. Realising they have no money, and with a threat of violence against the family, Phil admits that he will have to turn to Ian or Archie.
Phil goes to see Ian, and upon seeing the state of his face, he grows concerned for Ben鈥檚 safety. Phil tells Ian he wants to accept the offer he made to him previously, because he doesn鈥檛 want Ben to see him getting beaten up everyday and dragged into the problem.
Sensing Phil has no other option, Ian suggests they draw up a contract for a short-term loan, paid back in two weeks. However, Ian also needs Phil to put up something as security against the loan, something to make sure he will definitely pay the money back 鈥 the Vic.
Earlier, Max is anxious as he looks at Abi and Lauren鈥檚 Christmas lists, amongst a large collection of bills and final demands. Max reads a postcard from Bradley thoughtfully, before making a call to Rachel, telling her, 鈥淲e need to talk about Bradley.鈥
Max lies telling Rachel that Bradley isn鈥檛 coping with life in Canada and he hints that he needs some money. He plays to her maternal instincts and says that Bradley could use 拢10,000 to get himself back on his feet.
Max persuades her to write the cheque out to him, so he can feed it to Bradley in bits and bobs so he doesn鈥檛 feel like his mum is bailing him out. Later, when Max studies the cheque in more detail, he realises it is not signed. Frustrated, he calls Rachel.
Meanwhile, Zainab tries to put pressure on Amira and Syed to postpone the wedding until the spring but Amira doesn鈥檛 want to budge. As they leave, Masood tries to calm Zainab down and it becomes clear that she wants to move the wedding back because if they go ahead with the original plan for new year鈥檚 day, she will be heavily pregnant. Masood assures her that she will still be gorgeous.
Sensing her low spirits, Masood asks Amira to take Zainab for a girls day out. Amira says that she and Syed are supposed to be going out, but spotting an opportunity to be alone with Christian, Syed encourages her to go, before telling Masood he looks tired and should go home and take the afternoon off.
Syed reminisces about his childhood as the two spend time together. Christian states that he loves Syed and encourages Syed to react similarly. Syed quietly confesses he loves Christian
Masood鈥檚 relaxing afternoon off is interrupted by Zainab and Amira returning home exuberantly showing off the results of their shopping spree. They reveal to Masood that as well as all of this shopping, they have found the perfect outfit for Zainab to wear to the wedding, but it is 拢300 and she wanted to ask him first. Seeing how excited Zainab is, he realises he cannot say no.
Zainab overhears Masood on the phone to Janine, telling her something has come up and he needs all the shifts he can get. She tells him to cancel the taxi shift; she can find a different outfit. She can see how tired he is and doesn鈥檛 want to make him any worse.
As Masood approaches the car lot to tell Janine he cannot work, Max and Rachel accost him as Rachel needs a taxi to Tring. Sensing the opportunity of a large fare, Masood agrees. Max warns him to keep his mouth shut about everything that has happened.
Rachel is sat in the backseat as Masood drives, struggling with his tired condition. To answer her phone to Max, Rachel unfastens her seat belt. Masood head falls forward, eyes closed. The car swerves across the road and Rachel is thrown around the backseat. The car reaches a standstill but with a creak it topples over onto its roof. There is silence as Masood is slumped at the wheel and Rachel is left bloodied.
Earlier, Bianca is trying to get everyone ready for school, when Tiff complains that she has tummy ache. Bianca is having none of it and ushers her out the door. Whitney collects her mail from Masood but tells him there is something missing; she is urgently expecting a letter from someone.
Later on, Whitney is at home when Tiff unexpectedly walks through the door. Whitney presses her to tell the truth as to why she has come home, eventually revealing that Bobby Beale has been bullying her. Whitney tells Tiff not to be scared, that bullies are just cowards and she has to stand up to them. If Bobby hurts her then she should hurt him back twice as hard.
Ricky then finds Ian struggling to separate Bobby and Tiff. Ricky tries to restrain Tiff, who is very angry. Ricky and Ian get involved in a war of words as Ian tells him that Tiff needs to learn how to behave, 鈥淛ust like her mother!鈥
Ricky has a go at Whitney for telling Tiff to fight Bobby. As Bianca enters Whitney gets personal and tells Ricky that Tiff is more her responsibility than his, so he cannot tell her how to handle it. Bianca has to separate them.
Ricky is sad that he has to keep it hidden that he is Tiff鈥檚 dad. Bianca comforts him and says that with all that鈥檚 happening with Tony, Whitney feels that Tiff is the only family she has, and she doesn鈥檛 want to take that away from her. Ricky agrees, but wants the truth to come out after Tony鈥檚 trial.
